Newborn Foal’s Hilarious Bucking Tantrum Shows He’s Born to Be Wild

Welcoming a foal into the world can be nothing short of magical, but not even equine experts can know what to expect once the baby’s personality starts to show. They could be polite and shy, or curious and silly, but some foals, like @katievanslyke’s newest baby, Prince, have more energy in their tiny bodies than they know what to do with.

At just three days old, Prince gave Katie a run for her money with a tantrum that had her questioning her safety. This little horse can really kick! Prince has excitement to spare, and only so much space to express it in, but this bucking bronco in the making was eventually humbled after his long legs started getting tired.

What a spicy baby horse! His innocent looks are so deceiving, but Katie and her friends are smart enough to know that he can turn up the heat in an instant. Even so, it’s difficult to stay out of the danger zone when he’s always moving!

“What’s in that milk?” asked commenter @loki_price_m8. “Red Bull?” That’s certainly what it seems like!

This happy baby horse seems to enjoy learning to use his long, spindly legs, whether he’s zooming across the stall or practicing his kicks. His mom, on the other hand, seems like she could already use a break! Raven was unbothered when Prince tried to steal her food (even though he couldn’t eat it), but the way she looks at Katie at the end of the video proves even she’s at the end of her rope.

Some commenters asked whether calming methods like weighted blankets could be an option, but other equestrians can already guess what this fiesty foal’s future holds. @Native_KC wrote, “I’ve never seen such a young colt announce his candidacy for gelding-hood so clearly…”

What is a Gelding?

But what exactly is a gelding, and why would Prince be one? Gelding is the official term for an adult male horse that has been fixed, while a stallion is an adult male horse that is intact and able to breed.

Geldings tend to be calmer and easier to train than stallions, which is why viewers are predicting Prince will become a gelding one day. If he’s this energetic and unpredictable at just three days old, just think of what he’ll be like when he’s older!
