When it comes to best friends, there are no rules about who they can be, and that’s part of the magic. Many people say that opposites attract, and that’s often true even in the animal kingdom. The word “bestie” usually refers to two people who enjoy each other’s company. Still, after watching the TikTok video posted by @bellasoul_farm, we see it can apply to any duo, including Max the donkey and Nyx the German Shepherd.
These two are truly like two peas in a pod, even though Max tries to pretend he’s not interested in a play session. The stark difference between the animals is striking, but watching them zoom toward each other and then dodge one another in a wide open field is a heartwarming sight.
Honestly, at the beginning of the video, I thought Max was chasing the German Shepherd, but apparently, it was the other way around. Nyx is the one who instigates and rarely takes no for an answer. Even though the donkey doesn’t seem in the mood for a zoomie session, he still goes for it, which shows how strong their friendship is.
Not only do these two like to play together, but Mom also says they “hang out together all the time in the same pasture. Often, you will see them just lying there together. Max knows that she is not a foe.”

Facts About German Shepherds
German Shepherds are protectors. PetMD states, “German Shepherds are large, agile, muscular, highly intelligent, and loyal dogs.” PetMD also mentions that “As part of the herding group, German Shepherds are high-energy and love having a job or an outlet for regular exercise. They are known for their confidence and bravery, as well as their ability to thrive with expert levels of dog training and obedience.”
It’s fun to see these two opposites get along like peanut butter and jelly. Everyone needs a best friend, and if people can choose dogs for theirs, so can donkeys!
