These Cats Invented Their Own Baseball-Like Game, and It’s ESPN-Worthy

Move over, Major League Baseball. There’s a new league in town, and it’s happening in someone’s living room.

In a popular TikTok posted by Justin of @followmycrazycatlife and captioned “cat baseball,” three cats have the internet laughing and genuinely impressed. The on-screen text reads, “my cats have invented their own game. 😹 ,” and after watching the clip, it’s hard to argue with that.

Cats Take Turns Launching Their Toy

Their owner explained that he attached “some little $4.99 hanging bird toy” to the ceiling with a nail and a few square knots. The toy appears to be a fluffy bird attached to an elastic string. Simple enough. But what these cats turned it into is nothing short of a full-blown athletic event.

Here’s How It Works

One cat grabs the dangling bird in their mouth and stretches the elastic as far as it will go, sometimes even pulling it around corners, building suspense like a pitcher winding up. Then, release!

The toy springs back toward the ceiling, bouncing wildly as the cats chase it down. Then another cat takes a turn, grabbing the bird in their mouth and pulling it taut before letting it fly again.

To make things even better, the entire clip is set to baseball-style announcer commentary, complete with play-by-play energy that makes each launch feel like a game-winning home run.

The Internet Is Ready to Draft Them

Viewers are just as obsessed as you’d expect.

“This is so funny how do they choose who gets to pull it? 😭” one viewer asked in the video’s comment section. “Standard lineup,” another answered.

“Western conference is so loaded this year,” someone else added.

One viewer even noted, “That’s interesting, I had no idea that cats would engage in collaborative play.”

That might be the most fascinating part. Cats are known for solo zoomies and independent play, but this looks genuinely coordinated. The way they appear to wait, watch and then step in for their turn makes it feel less like random chaos and more like an organized league sport.

I guess we’ll never know if they consciously “invented” rules amongst themselves or simply fell into a rhythm, but regardless, one thing is clear: these cats are having the best time.

Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m waiting for the playoff bracket.
