My dog has always been such an active sleeper that I’ve always wondered so much what she’s dreaming about. Sometimes, it’s obvious — like when she’s moving her legs a little so it looks like she has the zoomies. Other times, it’s harder to figure out, like when she’s doing tiny barks in her sleep that could be happy or angry.
But when it comes to the Black Labrador in the TikTok video below, there’s absolutely no doubt what he’s dreaming about, and it all comes back to food. A relatable king!
Here, we see Drake fast asleep, moving his mouth like he’s really chowing down on something delicious. That little nose and tongue are so busy, despite the fact that he’s not even conscious.
“Probably dreaming about the time I accidentally gave him a second dinner,” his mom wrote in the video.
That seems like a pretty safe bet. That’s not the kind of thing that a dog forgets!

What Do Dogs Dream About?
It’s pretty clear that Drake is dreaming about that second dinner mix up in the video above, but in general, what do dogs dream about?
Interestingly, the themes of our dogs’ dreams are pretty similar to ours, according to the American Kennel Club (AKC). Research has shown that dogs dream about what they do all day, from the food they eat to the humans and other animals they play with.
Dogs, but especially puppies, are more likely to “act out” what they’re dreaming about the way that Drake does, but you’ll have to keep an eye on them while they’re in a deep REM cycle if you want to catch it happening (and of course, it’s not something that all dogs do every time they’re dreaming).
The AKC also notes that if you notice your dog may be having a nightmare, you should let them sleep and just be there to comfort them when they wake up, because the confusion of being woken up too soon combined with the bad dream can make some dogs act aggressively.
