If you’ve ever watched a group of puppies meet each other for the first time, you know the energy is impossible to resist.
Imagine a whole store dedicated to that kind of joyful chaos. Well, that is the idea Petco is trying to bring with its free events lineup in March. Early socialization for puppies is important, and Petco is helping dogs and their pet parents do just that in a controlled setting, without paying hundreds of dollars for puppy classes.
The lineup of free events in March includes puppy playtime sessions every Saturday, a collar and leash trade-in event with major discounts on March 14, a photo session with the Easter Bunny on March 28 and 29, and an Easter egg hunt on April 4, according to @thefreebieguy on Instagram.
What Are Fans Saying About It?
Fans are loving the idea that Petco offers some free events. It shows that the company cares for its customers and wants to give something back.
Some of the fans didn’t know about the events. Spreading the word will help more pet parents learn and visit these free events. Some fans said, “How fun. Great events to take the furry friends too!” and “I had no idea about puppy play time!!! My daughter will love that.”
Why Puppy Playtime Matters
Early socialization is one of the most important aspects of raising a well-behaved and confident dog. According to the American Kennel Club, the first three months of puppyhood are the most important for socialization. During this period, puppies should be exposed to different sounds, sights, people and animals.
Pet events like the ones Petco is organizing allow owners to bring their puppies to a controlled environment to learn these important skills. Safe play sessions with other puppies allow your dog to learn critical social skills like reading body language, understanding play signals and building confidence around other animals.

Does Every Petco Hosts the Puppy Playtime Events?
As one of the commenters on the Instagram post said, it is best that you check with your local store first because not all stores do all of the free events.
To be sure your local Petco store offers these events, visit the Petco website, and then click on Find a Store. For the free puppy playtime sessions, you also have to book it in advance and bring proof of vaccination. The puppy playtime events are for puppies aged eight weeks to six months.
Pet events like these also give owners something valuable: connection. You might arrive simply hoping to tire out your high-energy puppy, but you may end up chatting with other pet parents, comparing training stories and sharing laughs about the chaos of raising a young dog. By the time you are ready to leave, puppies are happily exhausted, and you may have made a few new friends in the process.
