Niall Harbison continues to change the lives of street dogs through his Thailand animal rescue, Happy Doggo. He shares many of their triumphant stories on social media, highlighting the bravery and resilience of these courageous canines.
The animal advocate recently rescued a senior dog in poor health who proved that she has plenty of life left to live.
The sweet senior pooch, whom Harbison named Dolly Parton, was abandoned “because she was no longer perfect”. She was brought to Happy Doggo by a local resident who saw the dog desperately needed help. Dolly was literally shaking in fear and needed medical attention.
“She’s very old and her fur is pretty much all gone from the thousands of ticks and fleas sucking her blood,” Harbison shared when she first came to the rescue. “She’s very sick and she also has a major leg trauma. Who knows how long the little girl has been out on the streets, battling to stay alive.”
Even with those challenges, Dolly maintained a kind and loving heart and welcomed human touch. Now after five weeks of medical care and plenty of love and affection from Harbison and the Happy Doggo team, Dolly is thriving. The Instagram video from @wearehappydoggo showed the canine cutie joyfully prancing around with a literal spring in her step.
“To some, she was ‘too old’ and to others, she was ‘too sick’,” the caption read. “But after a kind soul scooped her up and brought her to us, this ‘imperfect’ girl found her spark again.”
Dolly Has a New Leash on Life
Thanks to the commitment and dedication of Harbison and his team, Dolly is blossoming at Happy Doggo and the transformation is beautiful to witness.

“She’s safe, loved, and she’s perfect to us,” Harbison shared in the onscreen text.
Harbison launched Happy Doggo in 2021. In addition to the sterilization and daily feeding of thousands of street dogs, he recently opened a full-service medical clinic in honor of his beloved Golden Retriever, Tina.
