Unfortunately, there’s no way around it: that first year with your dog is going to fly by, especially if you’re adopting them as a puppy. They grow up and hit their milestones so quickly that it’s almost hard to believe exactly how tiny they were when you first met.
Seeing that growing-up process in one video is a bit jarring, but after watching Bonnie, the Newfoundland-Australian Shepherd mix, grow in the video below, it’s the perfect reminder of just how fleeting every stage with your dog really is.
This video from @biggirl_bonnie shows just how far this precious girl has come from the time she first joined her forever home at 8 weeks to now, as she celebrates her first birthday.
In the first clip, she’s small enough that her mom can comfortably hold her… but in the final clip, she’s so big that I’m surprised her mom didn’t drop her. This dog is huge!

Newfoundland and Australian Shepherd Mixes Are Becoming More Popular
This mix of dog—often referred to as a “Newfaussie”—is becoming more and more popular all the time, and it’s easy to see why. They’re so gorgeous, whether they’re a puppy or all grown up.
If you’re thinking about a dog who belongs to this hybrid breed, you’ll want to keep in mind that those Newfoundland genes will likely make them a pretty big adult dog who likes to have a job to do and who has plenty of energy to get out on a daily basis. So make sure that their demands fit into your schedule.
Both Newfies and Aussies are known for having sweet, friendly personalities and for being very protective of their favorite humans, so there’s no doubt that Newfaussies follow suit.
It’s wild to see how quickly Bonnie grew. She’s now big enough to take over the whole house!
