Two golden retrievers just barked their “I dos” in a one-of-a-kind wedding ceremony.
On Tuesday, March 31, Maeve and Oakley — two dogs from East Sussex who already share six puppies — tied the knot in a wedding attended by 60 of their closest (human) family and friends.
“We know it sounds a bit silly (okay, a lot silly), but honestly, life’s too short for negativity,” Maeve’s owner, Hannah Brown, wrote on Instagram alongside videos of the dogs. “Sometimes you just need a little love, a little chaos, and a lot of wagging tails.”
“From wedding prep and puppy cuddles to sharing some incredible local businesses, it’s going to be joyful, messy, and utterly heartwarming,’ she continued. “And the best part? On the big day, we’ll be collecting donations for a dogs’ charity to give back to our furry friends in need. Because love is best when it’s shared. 💕🐾.”
On the day of the celebration Hannah joined Oakley’s owner, Stuart, in raising funds for Dogs Trust USA, a nonprofit dedicated to tackling “the biggest issues in dog welfare across the U.S. and around the globe to make sure that every dog is safe and healthy, no matter where they are.”
“We are aware of the upcoming nuptials between Maeve and Oakley,” Dogs Trust told the BBC ahead of the ceremony. “We wish the happy couple all the best for the future.”

Acknowledging that the wedding began as a “silly idea,” Hannah told the outlet that she and Stuart just wanted to bring “something more exciting than normal boring news” to the world.
“I think it’s just nice to spread some love and positivity,” she added. “Life is too short.”
As for how Maeve and Oakley’s puppy love came to be? Hannah told the BBC that, since she and her husband are close friends with [Oakley’s] family.
She later said during an appearance on This Morning that, after going “on lots of lovely walks together,” Maeve and Oakey’s love “has just blossomed.”
During the celebration the dogs enjoyed their custom wedding cake, which was crafted out of oats, bananas and mashed potatoes.
“It was just amazing, such a lovely day,” Hannah said of the ceremony, which she never imagined would become as big as it was. “It was so precious. It was just so lovely to see all the kids there and everyone just loving it. Even the puppies loved every minute of it.”
