No dog likes wearing a cone, but it’s an important step in the healing process after a serious injury or surgical procedure.
Thankfully, the family behind the YouTube channel Hammy and Olivia found a way to make the cone not just a bulky medical device but a fashionable, smile-worthy fashion accessory,

Fifi the corgi was all frowns when she came home in a cone. “She’s not happy,” reads the video caption, and the poor little thing does seem down in the dumps.
“Her siblings don’t like her cone either,” the video caption continues as we’re treated to a heartbreaking montage of fellow cats and dogs of the house investigating and turning their noses up at the dreaded blue cone of discomfort.
Turns out Fifi is in the cone because she has a hot spot on her paw, and she needs to be kept from licking it and making it worse. To turn things around, Fifi’s mom and dad decided to decorate the cone with lots of soft, fake flowers, turning what was an ugly, bulky thing into something that radiated color and joy.
Fifi watched the process and helped pick out the flowers herself, and the change it makes in her smile is so precious!
Suddenly, Fifi is smiling and running around with her beautiful cone like a proud little princess.
“Awww, she just needed a little touch of sass to feel better. She’s like Mary Poppins, ‘practically perfect in every way.’ Get well Fifi,” one commenter says.
“What a wonderful and thoughtful Dad you are,” another agrees.
“Fiona is so beautiful, she makes everything look good,” another adds.

Why Do Dogs Have to Wear Cones?
Cones aren’t torture devices, but they are the best tactic vets have at their disposal to keep dogs from licking at wounds or accidentally tearing surgery sutures, so they’re a fact of life, as it stands.
Cones also help protect dogs from accidentally licking topical medicines that could otherwise make them sick, or that might work less effectively if rubbed off too soon.
Thankfully, there are a few different types of cones available to help a dog feel more comfortable while wearing one.
Not only are the plastic cones available, like Fifi’s, which remain the most efficient of the cone varieties, but there are also inflatable collars that behave like neck pillows for humans, and soft fabric cones that offer padding and protection.
There are drawbacks to the non-plastic cones. They have more give and can be worked around by the wiggliest dogs, but that doesn’t mean we can’t brighten those plastic cones like Fifi’s dad and turn them into beautiful decorations!
Just be sure to talk to your vet before you bedazzle your dog’s cone. You don’t want to accidentally make any issues worse.
