Olaf is a 5-year-old Shih-Tzu full of spunk and a bit of sass. His mom recently posted a TikTok video showing fans exactly what the little pup did with his chicken nugget, and honestly, it was a pretty smart plan—except his mom caught on to him!
In the video, Mom approaches Olaf, who is tucked into a corner of the room, and asks, “What are you doing? What’s that?” From the look on the Shih-Tzu’s face, he knew it was go time, and he’d have to act quickly to avoid losing the nugget completely.
So, he did what any other dog would do when faced with a similar decision… he ate it, of course! After giving his mom the “mind your own business” look, Olaf quickly snatched up the chicken bite in his mouth and reluctantly scarfed it down. You could tell he wasn’t prepared for such a hasty munch and would have preferred a leisurely midnight snack next to his bowl of water, but when push came to shove, he was committed.

One TikToker commented, “His face as he reluctantly ate the nugget. He just wanted a little snacky later!” and Mom fully acknowledged ruining his late-night snacking plans.

That’s a good question. According to the Royal Kennel Club, “This is a natural behavior for dogs, sparked by an instinct that can be traced back through their ancestry.” The article further explains that digging and hiding objects are mentally stimulating for pups: “It stimulates their senses, gives them a task to focus on, and a feeling of satisfaction.”
