We’re learning quickly that 3D printing technology is changing the world, and it’s amazing to see all the things these printers can recreate, including prosthetic limbs. But we’re not just talking prosthetic limbs for humans; animals can benefit from them, too, as you’ll see in this video that Common.Entertainment recently shared on Instagram.
Meet Waddles, a duck who wasn’t exactly built like the other ducks; he was born with a wonky left foot that made walking pretty tough. But his dad, Ben Weinman, came up with a clever solution to Waddles’ wonky foot problem. He teamed up with a specialist who made him a custom 3D-printed prosthetic foot. Watch as he tries it out for the first time; it will totally make your day!
We loved that with a gentle push from his dad, Waddles was on his way! And the guys’ reaction to watching Waddles walk made us cheer even more!
Common Entertainment shared more in the caption. “It took a bit of getting used to, but before long, Waddles was up and taking his first proper steps. Amazing!” Amazing, indeed!
This video was actually taken in 2021. My Modern Met shared that the man who created the leg for Waddles is Derrick Campana, a certified Pet Prostheticist at Bionic Pets, who made a 3D-printed prosthetic leg and foot. The clip was from the Nat Geo Wildseries, The Wizard of Paws.

Cool Reactions to Waddles’ 3D Leg
Viewers definitely thought that Waddles being able to walk was cool and had some fun things to say about it. @ayling.samm joked, “Up next, spring joints for ankle and knee. Gotta get that cadence looking smoother!” Another commenter suggested, “Put some soft rubber on the footpad for traction.”
@futurm_nobis_est. shared, “Still hope for humanity!” and @dads_do_better added, “That was ducking awesome!”
We laughed and crowned @Chicago Schultzy with the best comment: “He walks like a duck now.”
He most certainly does!
