Who needs movers when Duke is around? The Golden Retriever is basically a one-dog moving team when his humans are looking to refresh their house. In fact, Duke’s mom recently caught the pup doing a little “redecorating” all on his own. Although I’m not so sure that the woman appreciated the dog’s initiative.
Duke had a vision. And that vision was to move a lamp from one side of the room right into his dog bed, where it would look much better.
It’s not that Mom doesn’t appreciate the help, but perhaps Duke needs to ask before he rearranges the furniture. The Golden was quick to grab a special lamp that was in a box of things to be moved — much to his mama’s chagrin.

The dog’s attraction to the object probably stemmed from the fact that it was shaped like a stuffed animal. He thought it was a toy! So naturally, the Golden Retriever snapped it up and brought it over to his bed for him to gnaw on.
“I did get it away from him after a while. This one even surprised us!” the woman admitted in the video’s caption.
People in the comments section couldn’t get enough of Duke and his favorite piece of decor.
“In Duke’s defense, this one is understandable because it’s a stuffy that has a lamp element. Lol,” wrote one person.
“Duke says he wants a nightlight by his bed. The corner needed a little light and music so he can nap better,” someone else teased.
“Duke now has an emotional support lamp,” chimed in a third commenter.
“Duke works harder than I do decluttering, can I hire him?” one person asked.
Golden Retrievers Like to Retrieve
It’s not just a nickname, Golden Retrieves actually do like to retrieve! Originally bred in the Scottish Highlands, the breed was used to help hunters track down their kill. Goldens would find birds either on land or in the water for their humans. They even went long distances to bring their kill back.
That instinct has never left Goldens. It’s why they love retrieving even today. Just try and keep them away from your lamps in the future!
