Sometimes just being near a swimming pool can bring out the kid in us! That’s definitely the case for one dynamic senior Dachshund who dashes around the perimeter of this watering hole like he’s a pup.
Take a look at this adorable TikTok clip, and see if you don’t feel this dog’s puppyish enthusiasm through the screen.
“Little old Boo never gets old with water! He’s 12 and still rockin’ the pool 🏊🏻,” Boo’s family captioned the clip. “He has to run around so many times before jumping in.”
Aw, so sweet! Maybe he’s working up a sweat so he can appreciate how truly refreshing the water is!
How cute is it when he finally takes the plunge and jumps in?

Viewers are eager to guess why this Dachshund is circling the pool.
“He’s measuring the circumference of the pool, minus the wind speed, all multiplied by pie,” one speculated.

“I think he was looking for the steps. 😅,” another surmised. Given those little legs, that would make sense. It would be sweet to see this pup go running off a diving board.
“Looking for that optimum temp water spot!❤️🤣🤣,” a third chimed in.
“Wonder what he’s thinking all this time. Maybe he thinks he’s the lifeguard,” another viewer suggested. Someone get this guy a whistle!

Whatever the reason, fans appreciate it!
“Nothing in the world is cuter than dogs and their little rituals 😭😭😭😭😭😭,” another noted.
Do Dachshunds Like To Swim?
Though this pup looks like he couldn’t be happier to be near the pool, traditionally, Dachshunds aren’t natural swimmers. Why not? Their short legs and long backs make it challenging to stay afloat. But much like other tricks, swimming can be a learned skill.
In this case, it looks like the Dachshund’s collar will keep him safe in the water so he can enjoy time with family and not wear himself out with the doggy paddle. Of course, he may already be tired from all those laps he ran around the pool before he took the plunge!
We’re happy he’s having fun with family!
