The seasons are changing, and one little Bernedoodle is here for it. It’s been more than a year since the sweet pup got to play in the snow, so she wastes no time galavanting outside.(Don’t worry her fuzzy coat definitely keeps her warm.)
The on-screen text gives us more backstory, “POV: Your Florida-raised Bernedoodle sees snow again for the first time in over a year and has the best day ever playing outside.” Her dog mom followed it up with a few extra details in the caption, “Anyone who knows me knows I hate the cold, but this had me thinking we should move somewhere more snowy so that she can do this every winter.” We hope to see her snow antics again!
Viewers absolutely adored watching doggy playtime with @KiKi commenting, “Aww, so happy and cute. Dogs and snow are a match made in heaven.” We agree and so does her mom who chimed in, “Yes!! She was so happy.” @Laekyn added her own Bern anecdote, “I live in Michigan, and my Berner refuses to come inside now that there is a slight dusting of snow on the ground.” We love seeing all these pups enjoying the outdoors.

Why do dogs like snow?
First, to be clear, not all dogs enjoy cold weather. My Chihuahuas hate snow (also rain and any other precipitation). But plenty of beasties live for the winter chill.
Animal behaviorist Patricia McConnell has a theory according to Scientific American, “Predators love change, prey animals hate it.” The thinking here is that a new snowy landscape brings opportunity for dogs to explore. Certainly many pet parents have likely noticed their pooches sniffing around or marking their territory after a new snowfall.
Gordon Burghardt, who studies evolutionary biology, added to the explanation that dogs may enjoy the “sensory qualities of snow.” Finally, dog expert John Bradshaw stated, “‘Of course, there can also be a social dimension, which most dogs find highly motivating — for example, dogs chasing snowballs thrown by people.'” Yes, part of the joy of playing in the snow is playing with you!
No matter the reason, it’s clear this sweet Bernedoodle will be back for more.
