After spending enough time with your cat, you end up knowing them better than anyone else — whether that’s reading their body language, knowing their favorite food, toys, and areas in the house, or being able to decode what they want from the way they just meowed at you.
And that means that for the Persian cat in the TikTok video below, it is very obvious when he’s demanding cuddles from his mama, and she seems more than happy to oblige.
On Monday, November 17, @notfriedjustchicken shared this sweet footage of what her cat Chicken does when he’s looking for cuddles: he lets out a very specific meow so she knows exactly what he’s looking for in that moment.
Oh, and the meow is super cute, which is very important to note.
She calls it the “mommy meow,” and that’s definitely what it sounds like. There’s no doubt that Chicken is very bonded to his mom!
Even sweeter than the meow itself was the way that Chicken cuddled right up with her and settled in, looking like the most peaceful cat in the world.

The Meaning of Different Meows
Cats do, in fact, have different types of meows, and as their human, you’re the one who will be able to decode them the best. It takes some time to get to know your kitty to figure out what they’re trying to tell you or ask for, but don’t worry — eventually, you’ll realize they’re making themselves very clear!
Interestingly, there are four different categories of meows, according to The Spruce Pets:
-
Murmurs, which include purrs
-
Vowel patterns, the category that most meows fall into
-
Articulated patterns, like chirps
-
Strained intensity patterns, like hisses and growls
The site also notes that if you’re hearing a variation of the vowel pattern meows, it’s likely that your cat is asking you for something, like the way that Chicken was asking for cuddles from his mom.
However, if you notice your cat suddenly meowing more than usual, you may want to take them to the vet for a check up, since that can indicate that they’re trying to tell you something is wrong.
Cats are so smart, and they always find a way to tell us what they need — as long as we know how to listen.
