This ‘Excellent’ Pet Blanket Is Waterproof, Functional and Super Comfy

Winter is rapidly approaching! And if you’re in most of the United States, that means some cold weather. Humans are the only ones who can get chilly when the temperatures drop. Our furry friends can also get cold from time to time. For when that happens, we love this MuttNation Fueled by Miranda Lambert Quilted Water-Resistant Pet Blanket at Tractor Supply.

This double-sided pet blanket is durable, warm, and comfy for your fluff babies. On one side, the pet blanket features ultra-soft, long-pile plush material that is cozy, warm, and gentle. And on the other side is embossed crystal velvet. In between is a hidden layer of waterproof TPU that protects against spills and accidents. We love this as it makes it a highly functional blanket that you can also place in your car, in a crate, or on furniture. We also love that it’s a large blanket—50 by 60 inches—and that it’s machine washable, making it very easy to clean. “This is excellent because it is waterproof on one side and very soft on the other. The dogs love it,” one Tractor Supply shopper said about the pet blanket.

Dogs can definitely get cold when the temperatures drop. Just how cold a dog gets depends on a few factors. One of the easiest things to tell is your dog’s breed and coat type. If your dog is a smaller breed with a thin coat, like a chihuahua, for example, they’re more likely to get cold easily. If they are a larger breed with a thicker coat, like a husky or a Bernese mountain dog, they’re less likely to get cold easily.

Size is the other thing to consider. Smaller dogs get colder more easily than larger dogs. Age is another factor. Puppies and senior dogs will get colder more easily than middle-aged adult dogs. And environmental factors are the final thing to consider. If your dog is wet, it’s windy out, or both, it’s much more likely to get cold than if it’s not wet or windy. Generally speaking, dogs shouldn’t need much more protection until temperatures get around 45°F. At that point, you probably want to start considering giving smaller dog breeds (Chihuahuas) or even medium- or large-breed dogs with short or thin coats (boxers) extra cold-weather protection.
