It’s always cute when our dogs start watching TV with us. I love how invested our pup gets. He loves watching other dogs up on the screen, and sometimes gets pulled in by the tone of the actor or actress’s voice. He’s even been startled awake by a dog barking on screen, thinking it’s coming from outside.
However, he’s never sat and watched a movie start to finish with us, not like one internet-famous pup. The curious pup Penelly, behind the TikTok account @penelly.watches.telly, has a propensity for enjoying feature-length films. But the husky mix’s latest screening led to mixed feelings with a pretty hefty dose of trauma.

This Pup Can’t Tear Her Eyes Away Despite the Trauma
Penelly’s mom put on the classic, yet very traumatic, Old Yeller for her to watch. While I am not sure what Penelly expected as she snuggled into the couch to watch the film, I highly doubt this movie was anything like she expected.
The clip shows her glued to the TV as Old Yeller dashes across the screen heading for a herd of cows. She looks a little stressed out with her mouth open and some rather intense panting, but her eyes stay glued to the screen, waiting to see what happens next.

Penelly inevitably shifts on the couch, because really, who can stay in the same position after all that trauma? She sits, eyes still trained on the TV as Old Yeller lies on the ground, bloody and injured. All panting has stopped, but I don’t think her eyes can get any larger.
Of course, the panting returns as she watches Old Yeller inching forward with his head in the rocks. Yet, she doesn’t get up. Nor do Penelly’s eyes leave the screen—the poor pup perseveres and finishes the heartbreaking movie.
Fans took to the comments praising the pup for her attentiveness to the movie and how “incredibly bright” she is. However, many did not want her to see the ending. “She’s going to be traumatized!” one viewer laments. That may be true, but I’m pretty impressed with her sticking it out.
“You can see her respiratory system spike in the action scenes versus the benign ones. She’s definitely engrossed in the movie!” another fan writes. Penelly was in it for the long haul and is sure to have a few nightmares after this one.
