The strength of the maternal instinct is unrivaled. Whether you’re a human with an infant or a four-legged mom with fur babies, that bond between mother and child is unbreakable. Many mama dogs are separated from their pups after approximately 8 weeks, when the little ones are ready to be adopted and go out into the world on their own. Yet those mom dogs definitely feel the void once their babies leave the nest.
Tokyo the Dachshund got the greatest gift of all time when she was able to keep her Doxie daughter pup, Aiko, to raise as her own.
In the TikTok from @tokyoandbabyaiko, the video showed Tokyo with her pup daughter most likely just moments after she was born. The montage that followed highlighted the pair’s unbreakable bond continuing to grow as Aiko matured.
The two were always side by side, playing together, or simply snuggling. The resemblance between mother and daughter is crystal clear, though Aiko has a merle coat where her mom’s is more of a traditional Doxie.
Tokyo has no problem keeping up with her little girl and showed plenty of energy in the TikTok post as the two scampered around together. Aiko is like her mom’s shadow and follows her everywhere. The precious pooches seem to have an unspoken language between them and radiate a beautiful mother-daughter relationship.
Followers raved over the mom and her pup and praised the decision to keep them together.
“So glad they can spend their lives together,” one posted.
“Awww she looks like her mom,” another remarked.
“I let mine keep her baby. They are best friends,” a follower shared.
“I don’t think there’s anything better you could have done for her,” someone commented.
Aiko’s Transformation From 5 Days to 5 Months
A previous TikTok shared Aiko’s growth beginning with a clip when she just just five minutes old. The tiny pup could fit in the palm of your hand and had her eyes closed when she was first born. Not much had changed at five days old — only a little more movement and getting even more adorable.

Five weeks was a big jump, where Aiko’s eyes were fully open and searching the world around her. She was sitting up and more interactive.
At five months, Aiko was decked out in some fancy jewelry and held a proud posture. This pretty pooch is growing up to be a lovely lady just like her mom.
Tokyo and Aiko are quite the dynamic duo!
