My dogs aren’t especially chatty, though my Pug mix has plenty to say when he sees another canine. He’ll start with a low growl that turns into full-on bark mode. My Dachshund gets vocal when she hears noises — it’s her way of being our own little guard dog. Other than that, my pups give the usual whine or loud yawn here and there but that’s pretty much it.
Buddy the Chihuahua apparently has the gift of gab, especially when his grandpa gives a call.
In the TikTok from @talkingchihuahua, Buddy was lying on the bed when he received a call via cell phone.
“POV: When you are talking to your grandpa who lives far away,” the onscreen text explained.
“Hi Buddy! Can you talk to me?” the Chi’s grandpa kindly asked. “You had a fun day today? Has it been a good day?”
Buddy began “speaking” in his own special language with growl-like sounds and was supposedly sharing details of his day with his mom. Then Grandpa approached a topic that triggered some feelings in the fur baby.
“Did your mom give you something good for dinner?” Grandpa asked as Buddy barely let him get a word in edgewise with his continued conversation. The chatty Chi seemed to have a lot to say when the subject of his nighttime meal was brought up, and none of it was good. Apparently he wasn’t a fan of his entrée and made no bones about it.
Grandpa gave Buddy some encouraging words. “Things will get better,” he told Buddy. The canine cutie vocalized his appreciation for the pep talk, which seemed to lighten the mood.
What Did Buddy Say?
Followers found the back-and-forth exchange between the grandpa and granddog completely adorable, with some guessing at what Buddy may have been saying.
“He wants to see Grandpa for the holidays and don’t forget something good for dinner,” one pointed out.
“He’s like ‘you know man, I can’t complain’ as he complains,” another commented.

“Having a full blown conversation with Grandpa — aww so cute,” a follower posted.
“He’s snitching on Mom that he doesn’t get enough dinner,” someone remarked.
These two should have a video call next time for an even more interesting conversation!
