Golden Retriever Puppy Who Can’t Wait for Chicken Is LOL Funny

You know the old saying about a watched pot never boiling? Turns out the same goes for chicken roasting in the oven, and one Golden Retriever learned that the hard way.

Moose, a one-year-old Golden boy, simply could not wait for dinner to be done. He didn’t bark, beg, or pace the kitchen. Instead, he came up with a plan that might not have been effective, but it was definitely adorable.

Take a look at his moment with the oven in this November 21 clip from @moose.thegolden_:

Honestly, I get it. When the whole house smells like dinner, patience becomes a challenge for any of us, especially a hungry pup. Moose put both paws to work, tapping, pawing, and quietly insisting that the oven hurry things along.

It didn’t work, of course, but the determination on his face made the whole moment worth the wait. His little taps on the glass were so focused, almost like he was trying to reason with the oven. If ovens had feelings, this one would have opened itself out of guilt.

And judging by the comments, his fans understood exactly where he was coming from.

One shared, “Aw, such a sweet, handsome boy wanting some chimkin.”

Another added, “Hold up, baby, they’re cooking!”

And @princesselsathedog made everyone laugh with, “Hey Google, ‘how do I fix scratches on an oven door?’”

If you need even more Moose in your day, check out this adorable follow-up from November 24, where he watches agility dogs with concentration usually reserved for Olympic sports:

His eyes barely blink, his head tilts with every jump, and he seems convinced he could join the competition if someone would just give him a chance.

A Dog’s Nose Knows Chicken

It’s no wonder Moose was losing his mind over the scent. A dog’s nose is remarkably powerful and far more sensitive than ours. According to East Valley K9, dogs can have up to 300 million scent receptors, compared to our five or six million. Their sense of smell is so advanced that the aroma of roasting chicken isn’t just noticeable. It’s magnetic. When something smells good to us, it’s almost unimaginable how incredible it must be for them.

Dogs like Moose turn even the simplest moments into something sweet. It’s just who they are. They find joy in a good smell, a warm kitchen, and the promise of dinner. And they remind us, without even trying, to slow down and laugh at the little things.
