Senior Australian Shepherd Sweetly Making Snow Angels Will Warm Any Heart

The hardest part of having a dog is watching them grow older. Things they once used to do, like running at the speed of light and playing for hours on end, slowly become more restful, slower walks, and quieter quality time. But even senior pups can find joy in the simple things every now and then.

Hank, an Australian Shepherd, may be more seasoned when it comes to age, but freshly fallen snow transformed him into a playful puppy again.

In case you need 36 seconds of pure joy, Hank’s got you. The clip shared by @blue.bell.the.mer is the epitome of happiness overload, and it’s all thanks to the snow.

“Hank is a happy old pup,” the video says, reminding us all to never count an old dog out. The Shepherd may be getting up there, but one look at his sweet face as he rolls around making snow angels, and it’s clear—this is a good day.

The senior Australian Shepherd doesn’t only find joy in the snow. Another day alive means all the good things, like napping outside in the sunshine and being the first one to welcome Mom home with his “happy greetings.”

Hank is proof that dogs are endlessly big-hearted, loving, and loyal companions through all the days we’re lucky enough to be in their presence.

Who wouldn’t want to come home to this good boy? I’ve said it before, but there will never be anyone more excited to see you than a dog—and that’s the truth!

About Australian Shepherds

There’s no doubt that back in Hank’s younger years, he likely had tons of energy. As PetMD explains, Australian Shepherds are active, working dogs with a strong drive to please their people. Words like “devoted” and “tireless” don’t even do the breed justice!

With an average lifespan of 12 to 15 years, there’s plenty of time to make sure these smart, affectionate, and friendly pups have the time of their lives. They adore people and will more likely play fetch for hours rather than cuddle, but they’re sweet companions for anyone who can handle all that.

I have a senior dog myself, so I know firsthand how heartbreaking it feels to watch them get older. And, like Hank, my pup will be loved to the nth degree all the way to the end, possibly with a snow angel or two if only to say, “Thanks for loving me.”
