My dogs pick up on scents more than sights. When we adopted our Dachshund mix 14 years ago, we knew right away she had her breed’s strong prey drive. She can sniff out anything and loves to keep her nose to the ground. My Pug mix is the same and notices certain smells before anything else. They both use their noses to recognize people and places more than any other sense.
Zebby the Golden Retriever may have a more vision-related memory. The precious pooch has a special place in his heart for his grandfather and remembers one identifying feature that sometimes prompts cases of mistaken identity.
In the TikTok from @zebbythegolden, Zebby was walking around the park and looked like he was searching for something. Apparently, he spotted different men who resembled his grandpa because they were bald. The gorgeous Golden would get a closer look before realizing he was wrong.
“My Golden Retriever thinks every bald man is his grandpa he hasn’t seen in a year,” the caption explained. “We’re visiting him next week — he’s going to be so excited.”
Zebby followed one man with his eyes as he walked in the distance. Once it dawned on the canine cutie that it wasn’t his grandfather, his tail slowly lowered in disappointment and the wistful expression on his face spoke volumes. He just stood there and stared straight ahead in sadness.
Followers Want an Update
Viewers of the video were moved by the tender scene and requested another post detailing when Zebby reunites with his grandpa.
“Seeing his tail drop is so sad,” one noted.
“We’re going to need an update video when he sees his grandpa for real,” another pointed out.

“One more week Zebby. Hang in there. It’s so sweet that they remember and get excited,” a follower commented.
“Someone tag me when the reunion happens,” someone remarked.
Zebby clearly has a close bond with his grandfather, so hopefully that reunion is coming up sooner rather than later.
