Have you ever rescued a pet you weren’t planning on? Sometimes, it’s those times that bring us some of the greatest joy, even when they weren’t on our radar.
That seems to be exactly what’s unfolding for the Moriarty family. They already have two Huskies, two Golden Retrievers, and two cats at home, and by all appearances, their world seemed full. But life has a way of nudging certain connections right to our doorstep, in this case, right from the airport.
While the family was away, word reached them about a one-year-old Husky at a shelter who was not doing well and was running out of time. Even though they were still en route home, they made the decision that as soon as they landed, their first stop would be the shelter.
They kept their word. The car went straight from the airport to the facility, and they made it just in time. That single decision shifted this young dog’s entire future, and the joy will warm your heart.

Togo’s story is already looking bright. Instead of facing euthanasia, he was celebrating his first pup cup surrounded by loving hands and encouraging voices. The family describes him as spirited, affectionate, and full of that sweet, slightly clumsy puppy energy.
They also shared that they aren’t sure whether Togo will remain a permanent part of their pack or stay temporarily as a foster.

In a follow-up video, the family explained that Togo had minimal exposure to other animals in his previous environment. So, he’s working on manners, boundaries, and how to respond when another dog communicates something important.
The Moriartys are already coordinating with a trainer to help him learn everything from greeting etiquette to reading cues. Whether he becomes a foster success story or a forever Moriarty family member remains to be seen. Still, the decision will be centered on what is best for him and their other dogs, including Blue and the rest of their pack.
And if early signs are any indication, Togo is soaking up affection with enthusiasm. You can see more of his joyful personality in another TikTok shared on December 7:
Many Rescue Dogs Need Time To Learn Social Skills
Many dogs from shelters or stressful environments need structured socialization to learn appropriate behaviors. Professional trainers can help new families establish routines and teach dogs how to read cues that don’t come naturally. Working with a trainer can help build confidence, reduce anxiety, and help dogs safely integrate into multi-dog homes.
No matter how long his journey in this family lasts, the most important part has already happened. When he needed someone the most, they showed up. And because of that, Togo now has a real future, one filled with soft beds, caring hands, training, structure, and love.
