Winter is finally here, and for many places, that means getting to enjoy the beauty of freshly-fallen snow! There’s something so peaceful and magical about the quiet that comes with a snowstorm, which one very lucky Golden Retriever puppy recently found out for the first time.
As you’ll see in this TikTok video shared by @hazen.riddle, this sweet little pup is experiencing his very first blizzard, and he’s so mesmerized, he’s not even sure what to do with himself!
Trust me, this clip is so full of pure wonder.
Isn’t he precious? The little hops are everything, and I love how he buried his head in the white stuff as if he were looking for buried treasure.
Viewers are so in love with this little guy, and one said, “I love how puppies do things face first 😭🥰”
Another person added, “He looks like he approves, and another noted, “Aww! He loves it!”
It’s definitely safe to say this little guy is a fan! He’s a winter baby at heart.
Keeping Dogs Safe in Snow
Before venturing out into winter weather, there are a few precautions you should take to ensure your fur baby is safe and doesn’t get too chilly!
The American Veterinary Medical Association advises knowing your particular pup’s limits. Different dogs have different tolerances for cold temperatures, and the site notes, “Long-haired or thick-coated dogs tend to be more cold-tolerant, but are still at risk in cold weather. Short-haired pets feel the cold faster because they have less protection, and short-legged pets may become cold faster because their bellies and bodies are more likely to come into contact with snow-covered ground.”
They also advise keeping a close eye on senior pets who might have arthritis or a hard time moving around.

It’s also important to protect your dog’s paws from ice and injury. The ASPCA advises using a vet-approved paw protectant or petroleum jelly before letting them walk outside in the snow. You can also invest in a good pair of dog booties, which come in particularly handy if you live the city.
The ASPCA also warns against letting dogs go off-leash during a snowstorm because they can easily lose their scent trail in the snow.
As for the puppy in this video, however? It’s clear he was perfectly safe and sound in his own yard with his human nearby — and he certainly had a big old time enjoying the first of many snow days to come!
