Basset Hound Randomly Wages War on Hair Clips and It’s Hilariously Dramatic

Dogs get offended by the funniest things. The vacuum, a suspicious leaf, the doorbell on TV—but Frank, the Basset Hound, has taken it to a whole new level. His sworn enemy? Hair clips. Yep. Specifically, the claw-style ones that go click click, which apparently is enough to set him into full-on dramatic meltdown mode.

In the adorable clip, every time his mom opens and closes the clip, Frank throws himself into a small fit of outrage. He lunges forward, lets out a soft growly bark, and looks deeply concerned, like this plastic accessory has committed a grave offense against his family. She tests it several times with many different clips, and Frank’s commitment to battling them is something you just gotta see.

The hysterical clip from TikTok was shared via the @frankthetankbasset account, and it’s pretty safe to say that poor Frank is not a fan of hair clips. Even the caption reads, “Frank definitely does not want a claw clip for Christmas.” One person hilariously called themselves out and said, “As a cringe millennial, it’s my duty to inform you that he is doing… one heckin’ concern.” LOLOLOL, he really is.

Someone else added, “If he had a phone, he’d call the police.” Another comment read, “Dogs are so funny, like what do you mean the claw clip makes you ✨️CONCERNED✨️”

A lot of other people admired something else about Frank! One comment said, “Can you ask him what brand of eyeliner he uses?” Someone else said, “Does he think his eyes are a little smoky for everyday? ” He really does have amazing eyes!

What makes the video so funny is the contrast between Frank’s mellow, floppy appearance and his fiery internal rage toward this tiny plastic object. He truly looks worried, like he’s trying to save his mom from danger, and she just won’t listen. His dramatic little lunges feel like he’s saying, “Ma’am, put that thing DOWN.”

Another person added, “He’s really at war with those things, isn’t he?” OK, everyone, we gotta return all these hair clips we got for Frank, the Basset Hound, and come up with a new gift!

If your own dog has strong opinions about small household objects, here’s what might be going on.

Why Some Dogs Get Weird About Random Items

Dogs can react to unfamiliar sounds, sudden movements, or objects that mimic prey behavior. A snapping hair clip makes a sharp, repetitive noise and opens like a tiny set of jaws, which can trigger curiosity, confusion, or protective instincts. Some pups see it as a threat, others see it as a toy, and a few—like Frank—see it as their sworn enemy.
