Any pet parent will tell you that the hardest part of traveling is being away from our beloved fur babies. As if the fact that we miss them to pieces isn’t enough, we can’t help but wonder if they’re contemplating where we went — and why we aren’t showering them with daily kisses and cuddles anymore!
One little Morkie was recently overcome with emotion after reuniting with her dad — who had been apart from her for 3 whole months! A video of the reunion was shared on TikTok by @molly3blueberries, and I promise it will instantly warm your heart.
The caption simply reads, “Molly missed her dad ♥️,” which couldn’t be more evident! Take a look at the moment the two of them finally get back together, and get ready to say “Aww!”
People who watched the clip couldn’t get over this sweet interaction. One person said, “3 months is like 2 years for a dog, omg.” It really is!
More viewers chimed in with their thoughts as well:
“Three months? That’s a long time!”
“Aww, so precious!”
“I love Molly so much!!”
Do Dogs Have a Concept of Time?
Do dogs understand how long they are apart from us? According to PetMD, they understand time as “the continuous sequence of events marked by changes in their bodies and in the environment.”
So basically, dogs know the difference between morning and night, thanks to their circadian rhythm. The site explains, “Circadian rhythm is key in a dog’s relationship with time. Physiological (functioning of the body) changes in the body tell a dog when it is time to wake up, sleep, eat, go to the bathroom, and exercise.”
As for whether or not dogs know how long their humans have been away? PetMd notes that they do sense the passage of time, but they don’t have a concept of exactly how long their people have been gone.
One thing’s for sure — Molly was absolutely over the moon to be back in her beloved dad’s arms again. Something tells us the rest of the day was spent giving her all of the affection in the world!
