Dogs are loyal, loving, and unbelievably adorable—but they’re also chaotic and oh-so-entertaining. Even though dogs are creatures of habit who live for routine, they’ll always find new ways to keep their people on their toes.
Mei, the Great Pyrenees, is an expert at causing chaos in her parents’ Portland, Oregon, home. This deaf dog has perfected her troublemaking skills so much that, on December 14, she managed to break a window from inside her crate! She won’t hesitate to let her feelings be known, whether through barking or pawing, but this unfortunate mishap had her rethinking everything.
Oh no! It’s a good thing that her paw wasn’t injured when the glass broke, but I can only imagine her parents’ panic when they came home to a shattered window. Their minds went straight to a potential robbery, but as commenter @jacquelinecity said, there was “No attempted break-in, just an attempted break-out.”

Every dog parent, like @funkelt, could see how “she got real quiet after that.” What dog wouldn’t? A shock like that would be enough to make most dogs rethink their actions, though some nervous pups would have freaked out even more once the glass shattered. Who knows what could have happened if she weren’t in her crate!
I laughed out loud when I saw her turn around to make sure no one caught her red-pawed. If she positioned herself just right, she could have looked completely innocent! She had no idea that her parents had cameras installed and pointed right at her, so in the end, she didn’t get away with anything.
Crate Training Dogs
Crate training a dog can require some commitment and practice, but it can help a pup feel safe and establish a routine. Because dogs are den animals, they naturally gravitate toward small, secure places, precisely like a crate. It can be a safe space for them to go for a nap or when guests are over, though it also keeps them out of harm’s way when home alone.
Even though a few commenters believed that Mei was expressing her displeasure about being in her crate when she accidentally broke the window, she was still in the safest place for her. As a curious and deaf dog, she could get into trouble that hearing dogs wouldn’t. This is how Mei’s parents choose to keep her safe and contained while they’re out of the house, though in the future, she’ll be a few more inches away from the window.
