It’s the most wonderful time of the year: When new puppies experience their first snow. This sweet Golden Retriever decided he hadn’t had nearly enough and straight up refused to come in following his snowy outing.
The on-screen text explains, “It’s my dog’s first time seeing snow, and he won’t come back inside,” with the caption adding an extra tidbit, “Also, we have no idea where he found that giant stick.” The stick is what makes this clip.
Viewers absolutely loved this cutie with multiple commenters commending his stick. “He’s Got His Stick… so he’s O.K.,” explained @Reader. @Wingstop added, “With his emotional support stick.” We can’t tell which he’s more committed to, the snow or the stick.
Meanwhile, others decided he was a Golden giving off Husky vibes. @booboo summed it up best with, “He must’ve been a Husky in his past life.” To cap it off, @The_Always_Tired_Book_Nerd understood this buddy perfectly, “My Golden girls love snow. They would stay out all day if I’d let them.”
Finally, a few tried to convince the puppy to come in once and for all. “Get in the house,” @Here I am joked with Dog Mom responding, “He would rather sleep outside.”

How to Keep Your Golden Retriever Warm in Winter
While this baby loved his snow-scursion, it’s important to remember that there is such a thing as too cold. Vets recommend that dogs not be outside for too long when temps fall below 20 degrees without additional layering. If it’s far below that, some pet parents may opt for a winter jacket.
As Good as Gold, a rescue based in Illinois, also recommends keeping paws warm. “Pay extra attention to your dog’s feet. Golden paws have lots of hair, so snow and ice can accumulate in painful clumps between the toes.” Additionally, salt can pose a hazard and hurt little pup pup toes. Consider using a protectant, like Musher’s wax, to keep feet snow-free.
Provided you’ve got an eye on Fido and it’s not too cold, he can stay outside as long wants, like the Golden pup in this video.
