French Bulldogs Cry With Excitement Picking Up Grandparents at Airport

When it’s been a while since a dog has seen someone they love, they can’t help but be over-the-top excited when a reunion finally takes place. Such was the case for two adorable French Bulldogs who accompanied their mom to the airport to pick up their beloved “Grandmom and Grandpop.”

The minute Leon and Lilly heart Grandpop’s voice, they peered out the car window with sheer happiness and started crying and wiggling. Clearly, they absolutely adore them, and the feeling is mutual!

Check out the cute reunion in the video below.

This is just too cute! I have a senior Shih-Tzu, and every time we go to Florida to visit my parents, he scratches to get out of his travel carrier as soon as he sees them waiting for us at baggage claim. He does the same little cries, as he’s just beside himself with excitement to see his Grams and Grandad!

People who watched the clip are so smitten with Leon and Lilly. One viewer said, “My Frenchie would have been out that window to get to my mom. 😂”

Another person added, “Definitely know the words grandma and grandpa! So cute!!!”

And someone else noted, “That’s pure love 😍”

Dogs and Their Bond With Human Grandparents

Plenty of pups share a special bond with their human grandparents — but is it like human grandchildren in a way?

According to Kinship, dogs don’t realize their grandparents are part of the same family as their parents, but they do recognize them as special people who they have a meaningful relationship with. Behavioral scientist Clive Wynne, Ph.D. tells Kinship that the bond likely forms because dogs spend a lot of time with them.

Whatever the case, the relationship between pups and their grandparents is a beautiful thing to witness, and thanks to sweet TikTok videos like Leon and Lilly’s, we get to see these precious moments unfold right before our very eyes.

On that note, I’m off to pack my bag to head back to see my parents this weekend. My little Shih-Tzu is about to get the best Christmas surprise in seeing them again!
