Ragdoll Cat Practicing Her Vertical Leaps Is Perfection

One frisky feline is certainly jumping with joy this holiday season!

But why?

Does she see her reflection?

Is she trying to be a gracious host and welcome some feral friends into her festive living room?

Perhaps she spotted Santa Claus and thought he might prefer using the front door instead of shimmying down that narrow chimney again.

Or maybe she’s channeling her inner exterminator and is hot on the trail of a fly.

Regardless, this little lady has some serious hops!

“My cat practicing her vertical,” Meredith, the Ragdoll cat’s proud mother, shares in a sweet clip on TikTok.

By the looks of it, Meredith has been practicing a lot!

While at first glance one might think Meredith might be challenged by the earth’s gravitational pull, this gal can really get up there!

With that, Ragdolls can appear somewhat tubby due to their large size, plush semi-long fur, and their natural primordial pouch, a loose flap of skin/fat under their belly.

My gut feeling (yes, pun intended!) is that this gal is trying to remove a fly from the house!

In fact, it appears that she may have knocked the critter onto a nearby mat, but that darn bug was just too quick!

Why Do Cats Jump at Glass Doors?

Cats may jump at the door for a variety of reasons.

Even indoor cats have a prey drive. Different motion may trigger their hunting instinct, making them want to pounce and “catch” the movement.

Kitties are also endlessly curious! They are fascinated by the sights, sounds, and smells of the outdoors and may just want to explore.

Finally, like everyone else, cats get bored just like you and I do. A glass door may be a fun toy or a challenge to pass the time.

I don’t see how Meredith can be bored in her house, though. It looks like she has a pretty sweet Christmas tree to play with! My kitty can entertain himself for hours on end climbing ours!

I hope Meredith had a Merry Christmas and was eventually able to catch that pesky fly!
