My dogs have good manners at times. When it comes to food, my Pug mix needs to work on his self-control. He still tends to grab a treat out of my hand or make a mad dash for any crumb that falls on the floor. My senior Doxie also has to hone her table etiquette, where she’ll vocalize her demands that we share any sort of meal and won’t take no for an answer. Still, they’re adorable works in progress.

Skye the Golden Retriever could give lessons on manners and politely asked her mom for help on something special.

In the TikTok from @mackandskye, the gorgeous Golden was lying on the floor with a decorated cookie in her mouth. The precious pooch made the wise choice of having a nutritious meal before indulging in the sweet confection and let her mom know she was ready for her treat.

“Brought me her cookie when she finished breakfast,” the onscreen text read.

The tasty treat was wrapped in plastic, making it difficult for Skye to eat it. Honestly, my dogs would’ve ripped through the plastic and probably consumed part of it in the process. But not Skye — took the poised and mannerly route and patiently waited for her mom to help.

The canine cutie’s mom checked the cookie to make sure it was Skye’s, then suggested she go ask her dad for help. Skye’s tail never stopped wagging as she went to the bedroom to wake her sleeping father for some assistance. He continued to sleep so Skye just snuggled down on the bed and placed the cookie in front of her, more than happy to wait until it was convenient for someone to open the prized package.

The Golden Retriever’s low-key demeanor in the video was not an isolated incident. Several posts showed Skye patiently waiting for dinner, and sitting quietly while the tags on her Christmas toys were removed.

The calm canine seems more than happy to just enjoy the moment she’s in and grateful she could always count on her loved ones. We could all learn a lesson from Skye!
