While decking the halls may be done, the holiday season isn’t quite over yet. Instead, Christmas has dropped us off at the new year’s doorstep. Putting 2025 in the rearview mirror is almost within reach, but we can’t get there without a few more trips to the store we’ve been putting off. There’s no time like just before the end of the year to replace the empty bag of kibble in the corner or change out the cat litter box that has clearly been neglected in favor of Christmas cookie decorating parties.
Felix and Fido may be over the allure of their Christmas treats and need some new incentives to get through the New Year’s Eve firework displays. Of course, that means a trip to your local Costco, where you can get everything they need, plus some last-minute bits for your annual party. But you’ll need to time your trip wisely.

Is Costco Open on New Year’s Day?
Costco is always there for us, equipped with everything we and our pets could ever dream of. Need some kibble? Done. A new dog bed? Check. A fancy new cat tree? Of course. Unfortunately, though, you won’t be able to wander around Costco’s aisles stocking up on things your pup may or may not need on New Year’s Day. Costco will be closed, giving its employees the chance to ring in the new year with their loved ones.

Is Costco Open on New Year’s Eve?
While you may not be able to swing by your favorite big box store on New Year’s Day for the latest deals on pet toys that your pup probably doesn’t need (but we all know we will pick up for them anyway), you may have a chance to get in on New Year’s Eve. But you will have to be strategic with your trip. Much like other times of the year, Costco will be open, but with reduced hours.
What are Costco’s New Year’s Eve Hours?
If you need to replace your cat’s litter before it brings its stench into the new year, you can head in long before you need to get ready to dance the night away. The retailer is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., though some lucky locations may be open until 6 p.m. Before you grab the keys and make a mad dash to the warehouse for some kibble or cat litter, you may want to check your local store’s hours.
