Livestock Guardian Dog Meeting New Baby Goats Is Too Cute for Words

Great Pyrenees Mr. Milchick is a livestock guardian dog at We Deux Farm and takes his job very seriously. He keeps a close watch on the goats, protecting them from predators and any other safety hazards they might encounter around the farm.

In this clip, Mr. Milchick meets the newest members of the We Deux family, adorable baby goats who are just as excited to meet him as he is to meet them. The proud look on his face at the end of the video proves that he absolutely loves his job!

In the video’s caption, We Deux explains more about Mr. Milchick. “Mr. Milchick and Harmony Cobel, our livestock guardian dogs, aka managers of the Severed floor, have the most unbelievable instincts. Watching them protect our herd and look over the property is such an amazing sight to see. They are born and bred to be working dogs, and they love every second of their jobs!

We are so grateful for them. We will be doing some supervised, unfenced visits with the babies soon. Their mamas will likely enforce strict boundaries with the dogs, but they all figure it out in the end.”

Commenters’ Sweet Reactions to the Baby Goats Meeting the Livestock Guardian Dog

Viewers left hundreds of comments about the Great Pyrenees meeting his newest babies. @motherofcattledogs shared, “Aww, he loves his new kids and his job! Look at that tail wagging!!” and We Deux replied, “He’s so excited and can’t wait to meet them in person! Doing some fence visits first to get them used to the stimulation.”

@mrs.gina abbott shared what Mr. Milchick was thinking, “‘I lay down as to not scare da babies.’ What a goodest boy!!!!!” @sam dobie added, “Even I said, ‘Good Boy’ out loud!”

Commenter @theryandrake asked, “I know it’s in the breed, but does he just instinctually know/want to care for them? Any training involved?” We Deux replied, “Yes, it’s totally innate! They know exactly what to do. We do a very gentle introduction through the fence, so they can both get used to one another for a while. The dogs get to see how high-energy the goats are, and the babies get used to the dogs being around as guardians.” What a cool job to have!
