In general, Cockatoos are not known for their calm demeanor and quiet moments. They tend to be high-maintenance pets who require a lot of attention and stimulation. Sweet Pea, the Cockatoo, falls into this category, but his mom recently found the perfect way to keep him engaged for a full 30 minutes.

She shared a recent TikTok video of the bird perched on the edge of the living room ottoman, completely mesmerized by a man playing the family’s grand piano. The caption reads, “After our piano tuner was done tuning, he gave us an impromptu concert!”

Mom continues in the caption saying, “I looked up to see Sweet Pea LOVING the music, gently swaying back and forth with each note,” and it’s clear from the clip that the Cockatoo was totally enamored with the gentleman and his beautiful rendition of “Rhapsody in Blue.” The bird’s crest is fully fanned, clearly showing excitement and happiness.

According to additional details in the caption, “He played for almost 30 minutes, and she never moved from her spot.” Sweet Pea’s mom laughingly added, “Honestly, I’ve never seen her hold that still for that long, LOL.”

Do Other Animals Enjoy Music, Too?

Several of Sweet Pea’s followers mentioned that their pets also love live music. One commenter, @bearlybuddy, said, “I play every day, and my dog will come and lie down until I’m done.” While @muteloops replied, “My cat will lie directly against a guitar, but find the furthest physical corner away from a saxophone. Sadly, sax is my main.”

Then @crazysteveman commented, “My dogs will ‘sing’ along when I play. They will keep going as long as I play or until I tell them to stop, then I get to practice without their vocal accompaniment.”

One of the Cockatoo’s true fans suggested, “She’s like, ‘He plays as dramatically as I live. How distinguished. What whimsy!’” to which Mom replied, “OMG—this comment. I can’t even! LOL!”

This sweet Cockatoo’s enthusiasm proves that a bit of music can go a long way in brightening the day.
