Snow can add a touch of magic to the holiday season, but once January rolls around, it can seem more like a nuisance than a gift. Between de-icing roads, shoveling driveways, and bundling up to go outside, it’s no surprise that some people are eagerly waiting for spring.
Meanwhile, some animals like @taylormill2’s majestic white horse can’t get enough of the snow! It might take effort for the massive horse to lie down, but nothing can stop him from rolling in the snow just like a little kid. It’s like he’s making snow angels!
This horse’s joy is unmistakable! The way he lies down looks (and sounds) like such a relief, but his relaxation quickly gives way to excitement as he rolls around. Every horse deserves to have as much fun as he’s having!

“Being a horse looks so uncomfortable,” agrees commenter @suchamado. Stretching out in cold snow must feel so refreshing, even if the process of standing up and sitting down takes longer than making snow angels does. Judging by this happy horse, the effort seems more than worth it!
If there’s any doubt that this horse is having the time of his life, just turn the volume up! That guttural groan is a universal sign of feeling good, though some commenters think it’s more of a ‘dad’ sound than a horse’s.
Why Do Horses Roll?
Anyone can give in to a roll in the snow, especially during the first snowfall of the winter. But why do horses roll? Sometimes, it can have deeper meanings, but it’s usually as simple as scratching an itch or having fun.
Rolling in the dirt or grass can help a horse fluff and dry their coat, especially after rain or a bath. By coating themselves in a layer of dirt, horses can also protect themselves from bugs or the sun.
Rarely, rolling can be a sign of stomach pain, so equestrians need to pay attention to their horses’ body language to be able to tell the difference. Fortunately, this wasn’t the case for Taylor’s horse; he was just having fun!
