Cool, Curly-Coiled Cat Will Steal Your Girl Like Cutest Little Permed Flirt

For every really unique-looking cat who comes my way, I’m pretty sure a fairy gets her wings. It can be two different-colored eyes, beautifully speckled fur coloring, or some physical quirk that makes them irresistible. If they’re rare to boot, I’m smitten like a kitten.

If you’ve never heard of the Selkirk Rex, Bluebeari is about to blow your mind. This rare breed cat has only been around since the 1980s and was bred from a single rescue cat, but that part doesn’t matter just yet—not until you feast your eyes on Bluebeari’s perfectly coifed curls!

After discovering Bluebeari, I don’t know how I lived all this time without him! The gray-and-white kitty looks like a stuffed animal come to life, so hide your girl—he will steal her right out from under you with his charm (and a wink)!

What did I tell ya? He’s one handsome boy! As far as the three distinct Rex cats are concerned (Devon, Cornish, and Selkirk), Bluebeari is a superstar ready for his close-up!

If anyone is looking for hair inspiration, look no further than @judynhercats, where you can get all angles of the funny feline. Those curls are too iconic not to bow down to!

About the Original ‘Bad Hair Day’ Cat

There’s a lot of history in a short span of time that led to the Selkirk Rex. The Cat Fanciers’ Association explains that the first cat had curly whiskers and a coat that looked “permed.” After being adopted and bred with a Persian cat, six kittens came into the world, and three of them had magnificent curly coats, establishing the new, rare Rex gene.

Called “bad hair day” kitties, these felines have stunning (and soft!) ringlets and big, bright eyes that make them easy to recognize.

These cuties are intelligent and silly, demanding attention wherever they go. While not always very active, the typically quiet Selkirk kitties love snuggling up in their humans’ laps and tend to get along with other pets and kids alike.

It sounds like this is one breed the universe blessed with all the good things. Bluebeari, and those luscious locks, will now live rent-free in my head until the end of time!
