MORGANTOWN W.Va. (WBOY) — A man in Morgantown has found an interesting way to use his drone, and it may come in handy for those who have adventurous pets.
If you’ve lost a pet, Josh Poling with Mountain Sky Drone will take to the skies to find it. With the aerial view and thermal and infrared imaging, Polling has been using his drone to find pets since July.
The most recent of these findings was on New Year’s Day. The Rauschenberg family was on their way from Virginia to visit relatives in Wheeling when they got into a car accident. The son, Austin, was taken to the hospital, but his service dog Springer got loose and was then lost some three hours away from home. The family found Mountain Sky Drone online, and Polling was able to find Springer curled up on a stranger’s porch three hours later.

“I took the dog straight back to Austin’s room,” Kimberly Rauschenberg said. “He was all over Austin and like, ‘Oh, I found you. Yay!’”
Kimberly Rauschenberg said Poling did not charge the family anything. Poling said that as a pet owner, returning pets with the help of his drone holds a special place for him.
“I’d be lying if I said I didn’t cry with every dog I’ve found,” Poling said.
Mountain Sky Drone charges people on a case by case basis for their pet finding services. Poling told 12 News that Mountain Sky Drone will help with aerial photography, livestock recovery and mapping. If you’re interested in learning more, you can find the business on Facebook.
