We tend to assume we’re the ones calling the shots with our pets, somewhat like a boss at work. But Emma isn’t the employee here — she’s the supervisor. This Toronto-based pup on @this_girl_emma_ recently decided her mom’s performance was simply not up to par.
The video shows a running joke that goes on just long enough for Emma to completely lose patience. As a Rottweiler, Emma notices things — especially when the same mistake keeps happening over and over again. After several “oopsies” from her human, Emma seems ready to try a different system altogether.
Dog ‘fires’ mom after she keeps dropping leash in prank video
The video shows a series of walks where her mom “accidentally” lets go of the handle. Every time it hits the pavement, Emma turns back with increasingly judgmental looks. Early on, she’s a good sport, picking up the end of the line and handing it back like, “Hey, you dropped this.”
She even accepts a few apologies. But you can see her patience wearing thin when her mom starts calling her name and pleading for her to bring it back for the third or fourth time.
Every time the leash hits the sidewalk, Emma turns back with a look that says plenty on its own. At one point in the video, the dog even looks at a nearby UPS truck, clearly weighing her transportation alternatives. The final straw happens on a walk with both her parents. Her mom lets the handle slip again and lets out a casual apology.
Emma doesn’t even turn around right away. She just stands there, looking ahead at her dad, likely thinking about her firing speech. When she finally does pick the leash up, she doesn’t go back to her mom. Instead, she marches straight over to her laughing dad and hands it to him.
When she finally looks back at her mom, the message is unmistakable: “You are fired.” More than 58,000 people liked the clip, many applauding Emma’s choice of outsourcing the job. One viewer pointed out that Emma tried her best to be patient, but everyone has their limits.
