Few things in life are as blissful as cuddling a baby animal. From their unconditional trust and love to their tiny little bodies, there’s so much to adore about four-legged newborns. Who wouldn’t want to scoop up a little one for a few minutes of affection?
Luckily for Hawaiian farm owners @kristaupcountry and @ktfasho, there’s no shortage of baby donkey cuddles on their ranch. In fact, the newest baby joined the herd overnight on October 24, and he’s absolutely perfect! His human mamas couldn’t resist cuddling him when he was just 12 hours old, but the way he fell asleep in KT’s arms has everyone wrapped around his tiny hoof.
Isn’t he the cutest baby donkey? His fluffy head and criss-crossed legs had me swooning from the first moment I saw him, but I nearly shed a tear when he nodded off in his mama’s arms. I can only imagine how overjoyed and honored she was to be one of his very first safe spaces.

“He’s so tired. He’s had a very exhausting 12 hours of being alive,” commenter @jackimay14 explained. Being that cute must be so tiring!
Dozens of other commenters agree with @jordansamm, who said, “I, too, want to snuggle a baby mini donkey.” Who doesn’t? I think it’s safe to say that baby farm animal cuddles have suddenly been added to a lot of bucket lists!
How Big Are Baby Donkeys?
As sweet as this new baby is, viewers are stunned by his size. I was, too, when I realized he’s a 12-hour-old baby miniature donkey! Mini donkeys grow to be about 36 inches tall at the shoulders and 200-450 pounds when fully grown, whereas standard donkeys can be as tall as 48 inches and as heavy as 500 pounds.
@Mrbeans2000 had everyone laughing out loud when he wrote, “2 hours old and that big? That donkey looks like he already has a car loan, mortgage, and utilities bills.”
According to the Smithsonian, baby mini donkeys tend to weigh 18-25 pounds at birth, but as you can see from this sleepy baby, they’re already quite tall! It’s hard to imagine how he fit inside his mom, Missy, just 12 hours before this video was taken, but both Missy and her new son are doing perfectly fine.
Now give this mama a nap, because she deserves to be pampered, too!
