Golden Retriever Siblings’ Happy Snow Zoomies Will Make Your Day

A good majority of the country is blanketed in snow this week after last weekend’s monster winter storm — and clearly, some are enjoying it much more than others. While humans are busy shoveling, digging out, and trying their best to stay warm, dogs, on the other hand, are having an absolute field day. Take Golden Retriever sisters, Pearl and Poppi, for instance.

These two precious pups live in the Nashville, Tennessee area, so it’s safe to say that having an opportunity to play in snow isn’t a regular occurrence!

After being let outside, Pearl and Poppi couldn’t hold the zoomies in after seeing their world coated in all that fluffy white stuff. Look at them go!

Do these sweet pups radiate pure joy, or what? This is their world, and we’re just living in it.

People are so smitten with this adorable clip. One viewer said, “Enjoy! They are adorable! Looks like we are getting ice where we are, so no zoomies for my Goldy!”

Another person from across the pond added, “I’m in Scotland, and it’s not currently snowing, but my dog LOVES it too 🥰”

In a previous video, Pearl and Poppi’s mom admitted she was hoping for a snowstorm — for the sole reason of her beloved Goldens being able to play in it.

We’re so happy she got her wish — and so were Pearl and Poppi!

Why Do Dogs Like Snow?

So… why do dogs love snow so much, even though it’s cold, wet, and sometimes tough to move through?

According to Pembina Valley Humane Society, dogs like snow first and foremost because it’s a break from the norm and provides a new sensory experience. Between the texture of the snow and the new smells that come along with it, they’re in doggy sensation heaven.

The site also notes that snow provides a natural playground for pups:

“Dogs love the unpredictable nature of snow — it crunches under their paws, it flies into the air when they jump through it, and it can be kicked, chewed, or flung around. This tactile engagement is one of the reasons why dogs associate snow with fun.”

These reasons only scratch the surface as far as why dogs love snow goes. The Pembina Humane Society also adds that it brings out their inner wolf, plus, it provides mental and physical challenges that they don’t get with their usual playtime.

Whatever the reason your pup enjoys snow, it’s so refreshing to see them having the time of their lives. With any storm, there’s always a silver… err, white… lining!
