Tiny senior dog thrown down trash chute at DC apartment building

A severely neglected and malnourished senior Yorkie named Apple was thrown down a D.C. apartment building’s trash chute.

Miri’s Haven Senior Dog Rescue took in the dog after she was found in the garbage of the apartment complex. The person who found her called D.C. Animal Control, who turned her over to the rescue.

A volunteer of the rescue told WUSA9 that Apple is “skin and bones.” Her lower back, hips and knees are injured. Apple can walk, the person said, but only with her front legs.

The shelter said Apple “is somehow still the sweetest and most joyful little dog.”

“Her tail has not stopped wagging since we got her,” the volunteer wrote in the message to WUSA9.

It’s unknown at this time whether the person who threw her down the trash shoot will face any consequences.
