Tiny Dog’s ‘Good Morning’ Surprise for Mom Has Us Speechless

No matter how much you love a dog, sometimes their behavior will be a total mystery to you. One moment, they can be your adorable, cuddly best friend, and the next, they have turned into a destructive little maniac!

Just take the little dog in this video, for instance. This little stinker, who goes by the name of Dexter, decided to give his human mama a startling “good morning” surprise, and people have so many questions.

This video starts with the caption, “How’s my morning going, you ask?” The footage shows an ordinary bedroom before revealing Dexter, the dog, covered in dirt after digging through an indoor potted plant.

There is literally dirt everywhere. What does this mischievous little canine do when his human mama asks him, “Dexter… What? What is going on here?” She’s in total disbelief.

Meanwhile, Dexter just stares at her like, “What do you mean? What did I do?” He doesn’t seem to have any clue that he might have done anything wrong, LOL.

Naturally, the Internet had plenty of theories about the motive behind Dexter’s bizarre behavior.

Instagram user aannemohr opined that Dexter might not be feeling well and he was simply trying to make himself feel better when she wrote, “Either he’s too hot in that sweater/it’s annoying him, and he’s cooling off his undercarriage, or he’s sick and wants to go outside. Dogs are so smart!”

While Instagram user tonyamotley surmised that Dexter merely missed the great outdoors when she wrote, “Apartment living, he just wants to feel the Earth on his feet.”

But Instagram user hey.madisyn had a more comedic take on Dexter’s behavior when she wrote, “He didn’t do anything. The plant clearly fell over, and he put it back in place.”

Why Do Dogs Dig up Plants?

As bizarre as Dexter’s behavior may seem, digging up house plants is actually not that uncommon for our canine companions.

Sometimes, they will dig up houseplants because they are bored and really need stimulation, or they are experiencing intense separation anxiety.

However, with proper exercise, stimulation, and enrichment activities or toys, it’s definitely possible to avoid morning surprises, like the one that Dexter left his human mama in this video.
