Unbothered Horse Stuck on Her Back in the Snow Shows Zero Interest in Getting Up

For humans, a winter storm means power outages, freezing temperatures, and shoveling snow to look forward to. For animals, however, playing in the snow can be a fun enrichment activity that makes winter one of the most exciting seasons of the year.

Spade is a playful horse who feels the same way, even when she ends up stuck on her back in the snow! She meant to roll on her back like she’s done thousands of times before, but this sassy mare immediately gave up when she couldn’t roll in either direction. Luckily, her mom, who posts on her social media account @horsesandcows, was there to give her a much-needed assist!

Spade is such an icon! She knew her mama would be right there to help her, so she made no attempt to get up by herself. The sassy horse could’ve at least tried to make her mama’s life easier, but nope!

“I love how the horse provided zero assistance,” @christieanne852 agreed. This mare is a queen, and she knows it! She took her time stretching her legs like a diva, but when it came to actual work, she couldn’t be bothered.

As @april778 pointed out, this adorable horse’s laziness could actually be a major sign of trust! She wrote, “The longer this went, the harder I laughed. I love her complete resignation to the situation. Unbothered, with full faith that mom is going to save her.”

This equestrian should be proud! Spade may be the epitome of a spoiled horse, but there’s no questioning that she feels safe with her mom. She might make her mama’s life harder, but it’s all in the name of love!

Horses in Winter Weather

Fluffy snow might seem relatively safe for horses to run and play in, but it’s important to be mindful when letting horses outside in winter weather. Horses should always have a warm and dry shelter available to them, no matter how much they enjoy playing in the snow. You can even give them a blanket like Spade’s to keep them extra cozy.

Removing ice and maintaining winter hoof care are essential to prevent falls and the injuries that can result. Spade also proved that horses may need to be supervised when playing near deep snow, in case they roll in the snow and can’t get up!
