Shih-Tzu’s Attempt To Get Parrot Sibling To Howl Is Full of Cuteness and Laughs

Not all dogs love to show off their vocal talents, but for those who do, it’s serious business. The art of the howl is something that’s been ingrained in their DNA, passed on from their wolf ancestors, and serves a distinct purpose of alerting their pack to danger or prey, or just to communicate.

For domesticated pups, like a Shih-Tzu named Mars, howling is a fun way to bond with the family Parrot, Brody. Except, despite the attempts of an excited dog, Brody really isn’t feeling it.

If you didn’t guess that a howling dog and the opinionated Parrot (who he wants to join him) would be on your 2025 Bingo card, same. But now that @brody.and.the.flo is the universe, the dynamic duo deserves a round of applause for this loud but funny scene. Take a look!

Yes, Brody walked away from Mars after a brief howling attempt, and yes, I do think Mars’ feelings were destroyed. Good thing the pup loves his bird sibling, right?! I’m more interested in how this became a thing they do together at all!

Brody Shows off His Killer Vocals… When He Decides To

I’m sorry for Mars, but there are dozens of other clips where Brody has no issue singing, talking, howling—whatever he feels like! As a Yellow-Naped Amazon Parrot with superior intelligence and astounding vocal abilities, Brody’s brilliant, affectionate, and when he feels like it, hilarious!

Like wild Amazon Parrots, one of the jungle’s loudest, most social, expert mimickers, a talented boy like Brody can pick up human speech, songs, sounds, and more with ease. On any given day, he might go off on rants or sing about being a bad boy, so if he’s not feeling what Mars is throwing down, he simply won’t participate.

The chatty make the best companions for those who don’t mind hearing everything they’ve got to say. For Brody, that means breaking into song, like “The Wheels on the Bus.”

That said, I’m happy to see Brody’s thriving with a loving family where he can sing or howl or do whatever he pleases—even if it hurts Mars’ feelings (sorry, bud… maybe tomorrow).
