Westie Who Loves Winter Gets the Cutest Case of the ‘Snow Zoomies’

Listen, I’m a New Englander. It has been snowing here since Thanksgiving, and let me tell you, my dogs and I are all so over it! We want to be warm! Is that really so much to ask?!

Apparently, not everyone feels that way. There’s one Westie out there who’s really enjoying being outside in the wintertime. She’s still so enamored with the snow that she even got a case of the zoomies:

The Westie Chaos Crew is three strong. They live to annoy their mom, who likes to pretend to be bothered. She’s not, though, because they’re just too cute! They are:

  1. Kleo, the mama of the group.

  2. Hermes, the one who causes most of the chaos.

  3. Goldie, who only comes over sometimes to cause chaos.

They thrive in all seasons, since they’re very well loved, but winter is where they shine. Kleo in particular goes nuts when it snows, which is just too cute. She’s so little she almost gets lost!

Kleo is actually both Mary and Hermes’ biological mom. They get their chaotic genes from her for sure; when the Christmas tree was up, those three worked all season on a plan to bring it down.

While their plans were ultimately unsuccessful, their other target wasn’t so lucky. One of them managed to take out the snow broom quicker than you can say “blizzard!”

That’s so funny. Who needs a clean rug when you could have fun instead?!

Snow Usually Causes Zoomies

Zoomies are way more scientific than you might think! They’re actually really cool: the technical name for them is Frenetic Random Activity Periods (FRAPs). FRAPs happen to any dog at any age, and as the name suggests, they’re random.

There are a few triggers, though, including:

  • Sudden introduction to new textures (like suddenly getting wet).

  • Sudden temperature change (like suddenly being very cold).

Snow is both wet and very cold, so for dogs, it’s almost always going to trigger a case of the zoomies. At least it will at first; as they adjust to the environment, their body will learn what to expect.

Not Kleo, though. She’ll be zooming forever!
