If you close your eyes and think of what you consider to be a “big” dog, what comes to mind? It’s easy to imagine cute little pups, like Chihuahuas or Teacup Poodles. But what about the breeds with the word “giant” right in their name?
Cairo, a Giant Schnauzer, is about to test that theory. This humongous boy rivals Jacob in Twilight when he becomes the enormous wolf. Seriously—you have to take a look at this dog!
See what I mean? The video shows the tall pooch with his paws on Mom’s shoulders, where he’s at eye level. Mom replied in the post’s comments that two things can be true: that she’s small at 5’2″, and this boy is actually gargantuan!
Even Mom @allahbia describes the Schnauzer as a “little human” stuck in a dog’s body, and I can’t argue with that. The post has thousands of fans swarming the comments section to share their thoughts, and some of them are hilarious.
“Girl, that’s Clifford,” one person joked. “Sometimes I forget Schnauzers come in large, too,” another added. “Giant Schnauzers always look wealthy asf, real sophisticated,” another praised.

If, like many of Mom’s followers, you’re still on the fence as to whether Cairo is really that big or if the video was AI-generated, she filmed a follow-up video to show us all HE REALLY IS THAT BIG!
How Tall Do Giant Schnauzers Get?
Honestly, I never knew that even having “giant” in the name, this breed could stand as tall as human adults. As it turns out, PetMD says these working dogs can grow to be upward of 25.5 to 27.5 inches tall at the shoulder for males and 23.5 to 25.5 inches for females. Weight-wise, females might grow to be 55 to 90 pounds, and the males even heavier.
These powerful yet sweet dogs start to slow down with growing at around 12 months and are fully grown by 18 months. These Schnauzers were originally bred to be brave farm and home guardians, which makes their size something important. I know I’d turn back if I spotted a big boy like Cairo protecting his territory!
