Free spay and neuter surgeries available for Camden County cats

Cat owners and community cat caretakers in Camden County now have access to free spay and neuter surgeries through the Jacksonville nonprofit EveryPet.

While EveryPet is known to provide spay and neuter services to communities throughout Northeast Florida, free cat surgeries are generally exclusive to Duval County residents due to the organization’s partnership with the City of Jacksonville.

For a limited time, EveryPet says it will provide surgeries for both owned and community cats free of charge, along with core vaccinations for viruses like rabies and panleukopenia. The organization says it will offer the service while program funds last.

With limited sheltering opportunities for Camden County felines, it is especially important to address overpopulation in the streets. Cats are only pregnant for a little over two months, meaning they can produce multiple litters and potentially more than two dozen kittens each year.

Stray and feral cats can be brought in any time during regular intake hours, so long as they are in a humane trap. They will also be ear-tipped so that they are easily identifiable as fixed. Pet cats must have an appointment, which can be scheduled by calling 904-425-0005. Caretakers must provide proof of Camden County residency.

Community cat intake times at EveryPet’s Norwood spay and neuter clinic are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays.

“By working together, we can humanely reduce cat overpopulation and create a healthier future for cats—and the people who care for them,” EveryPet said in its announcement.
