There is nothing cuter than watching an anteater attempt to devour a fruit platter, especially when that fruit platter literally has a message of “love” written on it.
That is exactly what Tammy, the anteater, recently did when the staff at the Miller Zoo in Québec, Canada, offered her a Valentine’s Day-themed fruit platter, which she absolutely loved! The only issue was that Tammy, with her exceptionally long snout, had a tricky time actually eating the fruit.
According to this video from Instagram user miller_zoo, this love-themed fruity platter was an enrichment gift for her on Valentine’s Day. According to a comment that Instagram user miller_zoo made on this video, anteaters “don’t just enjoy insects, even though they make up the majority of their diet. They have a sweet tooth, too!”
Clearly, Tammy really enjoyed this fruit platter. While she did knock a lot of the bigger raspberries and strawberries off the platter, she did manage to get some of the smaller crushed raspberries, as well as some tasty pomegranate seeds, with her long snout and tongue.
Instagram user miller_zoo noted that Tammy enjoys raspberries and can “even swallow them whole when they’re ripe.” Well, she definitely did seem to enjoy them in this footage! No one can say that she doesn’t have a sweet tooth, LOL.

Instagram user mari.onamission joked about Tammy’s eating efficiency when she wrote, “Food desired: 100%… Food acquired: 2%.” While other Instagram users joked that Tammy was a raspberry vacuum.
And Instagram user _m8thatseestoomuch_ joked about how long it would take that fruit to reach Tammy’s stomach when they wrote, “It takes one business day to get to her stomach, LOL.”
Tammy Has Interesting Taste
As this other video shows, Tammy has a very interesting palette. According to miller_zoo, this liquid concoction has been “specially developed by experts for anteaters in captivity, and contains all the essential nutrients for their health.”
Well, at least it’s healthy, even if it doesn’t look appetizing, LOL! But hey, Tammy certainly seems to enjoy it, and it’s good for her, so that’s what really counts!
