If you have a morning dog, you already know there’s no such thing as sleeping in. When they decide the day has begun, the day has begun. No snooze button. No rolling over. No bargaining for five more minutes. As a dog mom who hasn’t slept late in what feels like decades, I know the routine well.
Some pups wake their people with kisses. Others paw gently at the bed. And then there are the more… creative alarm clocks.
Skye, a fabulously fluffy Golden Retriever, belongs firmly in that last category. Her preferred wake-up method involves grabbing something she absolutely should not have and presenting it proudly like a prize. It’s equal parts mischief and morning motivation.
Her most recent selection might be her funniest yet.
In a February 16 TikTok shared by @mackandskye, Skye strolls into the bedroom carrying a bottle of Dr. Pepper like she’s delivering room service.
The pride on her beautiful face says it all. She may understand that the bottle isn’t exactly hers, but she also knows her antics are guaranteed to get Mom and Dad out of bed. And honestly, if you think about it, she’s not entirely wrong. Bringing caffeine to the situation feels almost… helpful.

Thankfully, as her mom, Mackenzie, joked in the caption, at least she didn’t put a hole in it. And once again, Skye’s unconventional wake-up strategy worked exactly as intended.
Fans in the comments completely understood the assignment.
Viewer @DrPepper wrote, “A girl that just gets it.”
@Bounce added, “When you understand leverage.”
And @Moose chimed in with, “I don’t blame her. Dr. Pepper’s pretty good.”
And if you thought that delivery showed initiative, Skye has also proven she stays impressively on top of food trends. In another clip, she wakes her parents with a Dubai chocolate bar in tow, proudly presenting the viral treat like a seasoned influencer who knows exactly what’s hot. Between the soda and luxury chocolate, she’s essentially running a full-service morning snack program.
Why Do Dogs Steal Our Things?
If your pup has ever paraded around the house with a shoe, sock, or remote control, Skye’s behavior might feel very familiar. According to the American Kennel Club, dogs often take objects to get attention, initiate play, relieve boredom, or self-soothe. Items that smell like their people are especially appealing, which helps explain the obsession with shoes and clothing. Some dogs also learn that grabbing a forbidden object results in immediate engagement from their family, reinforcing the behavior over time.
In Skye’s case, the strategy is clearly effective. She gets attention, gets everyone moving, and earns a reaction every single time.
And really, is there a better way to start the day than with a Golden Retriever delivering little treats and a whole lot of joy?
