Senior Dog Rescues’ Adorable ‘Welcoming Committee’ Is Making Hearts Happy

There are an indefinite number of reasons why adopting a senior dog is the best idea ever. They may be more seasoned, but that just means they have life experience. Older, wiser, and calmer dogs tend not to take a moment for granted—even if they move a tad bit slower than their younger counterparts.

Two such senior dogs are part of Frosted Faces Foundation in Ramona, California, and they love being the first to say hello to visitors. Take a look at the most precious welcoming committee anyone could ask for!

The video shared by @peakepups shows a pair of friendly seniors, Canelito (the lighter brown pup) and Rhodey (the black senior), moving at their own special pace to say hello.

“They aren’t gonna get to you fast, but they are gonna get to you,” the caption says.

I can’t imagine a better way to start the day than spotting these two coming toward me for some pets. And the best news is, they’re available for adoption!

How To Meet These Sweet Seniors

Frosted Faces is a senior animal rescue located in Ramona, California. If you’ve been thinking of adding a dog to your family, the rescue hosts an open house every Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. (no appointment needed).

Canelito is 11 years old and is described by his foster mom as a “true gentleman in every sense of the word.” He’s a big fan of cuddles, naps, and people. In fact, he’s earned the role of “Lobbyist” by the rescue because he’s trusted by other pups and enjoys relaxing in the lobby, where he happily greets every visitor.

As far as Rhodey goes, it’s hard to say if he’s been adopted, is in a foster home, or is a permanent member of the rescue, as there’s no information on this sweetheart to be found. I’d say reach out to Frosted Faces if he makes your heart go pitter-patter, so they can better direct you!

Why Adopt a Senior Dog

As a dog mom to a senior rescue dog, I know firsthand all the benefits of having an older pup. Not only are you opening critical space in a shelter by taking in one of these dogs, but you’re giving them a second chance at life so they don’t spend their last days in a kennel.

Adopting an older dog means they’re likely:

  • Ready for snuggly cuddles

  • A bundle of fun in those softer, quieter moments

  • Ready to fall in love with someone
